High school students across North Carolina are solving real business problems—and gaining future-ready skills—through SparkNC’s Teamship program in partnership with ApSeed. This virtual internship connects students with real companies to build teamwork, problem-solving, and professional experience.
This marks ApSeed’s fourth time as a business client for SparkNC and District C’s “Spark Teamship” initiative.
“We’re giving high school students the chance to work on real business challenges and come up with practical solutions,” said ApSeed Founder Greg Alcorn. “It’s a great way for them to gain hands-on experience and see what a career in tech could look like.”
The SparkNC Teamship opportunity is open to 9-12th graders. Students from 20 NC public school districts team up to tackle projects like improving ApSeed’s “Text To Teach” program, which boosts family engagement through short videos and messages.

“We’re grateful to ApSeed for their ongoing support of the Teamship program, helping NC high schoolers build brighter futures,” said SparkNC President Lynn Moody. “Our students and leaders are inspired by ApSeed’s vital work—especially how they’re helping preschoolers get kindergarten-ready with the PreK Touchpad. Together, we’re making a real difference.”
These partnerships are expanding access to high-tech career pathways for students across the state.
