Atrium Health Levine Children’s Brenner Children’s Hospital
Preschool patients at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Brenner Children’s Hospital have a new ApSeed pre-K touchpad to have fun and keep learning while they’re in the hospital.
ApSeed founder Greg Alcorn and Executive Director Julie Morrow gave touchpads – at no charge – to the young patients in Winston-Salem, NC on July 8, offering a fun (and beneficial) distraction during long hospital stays while ensuring they don’t fall behind in learning.
ApSeed also met with Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist leaders to explore how its innovative pre-K touchpad could support preschool patients.
“Our mission is to support children’s development wherever they are, even in hospitals,” said ApSeed Executive Director Julie Morrow. “We’re excited about finding new ways to serve these young patients and help them keep learning.”
ApSeed improves kindergarten readiness scores with on-the-go learning. Its pre-K touchpad is loaded with educational game apps that teach letters, numbers, shapes, and colors — crucial skills for kindergarten readiness — all without Wi-Fi or a camera, so it’s totally safe for little ones.
“We’re honored to bring learning and joy to children during difficult times,” said ApSeed founder Greg Alcorn. “Our goal is to help them stay on track so they’re not behind when they go home and return to the classroom.”
“Atrium Health Levine Children’s Brenner Children’s Hospital is committed to providing the best experience for children in our care by prioritizing support services such as child life, music therapy and pet therapy,” said Alisa Starbuck, president of Brenner Children’s Hospital and vice president of Women’s and Children’s Health Services at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.
“The ApSeed touchpad aligns perfectly with these efforts — supporting children’s emotional and educational needs and giving them a meaningful, in-hospital and take-home tutoring tool that promotes continued learning.”
