(Morganton, NC) ApSeed distributed approximately 350 of its custom-built pre-K educational touchpads free of charge to Burke County families at Blue Ridge Community Action’s early childhood education center in Morganton (Fri., Oct. 24 at 10 a.m.).

These touchpads are provided thanks to a $60,000 grant from the Rostan Family Foundation. This generous grant allows ApSeed to provide touchpads in Burke county for the first time. ApSeed already has more than 160 distribution partner agencies – school districts, WIC offices, daycare centers, pediatrician clinics, etc. – across North Carolina.

Since 2016, Salisbury-based nonprofit ApSeed has given its custom-built pre-K educational touchpads free of charge to more than 33,000 children across the Carolinas, New York, Pennsylvania, California and even as far away as Africa. The ApSeed pre-K touchpads are completely safe – no Wi-Fi, no camera, no internet – and are loaded with interactive educational apps that are proven to help prepare preschoolers for kindergarten.

Each touchpad comes with headphones and a charger, plus a Family Guide with a kindergarten skills “readiness checklist,” developed by educators to help ensure children have the skills needed to be kindergarten-ready.
