More Rowan Co. (NC) Preschoolers Get Boost For Kindergarten Readiness

ApSeed is once again helping Rowan County preschoolers get a boost to help ensure they’ll have the skills needed to be ready for kindergarten.

In the past few weeks, ApSeed has provided nearly 1,500 of its custom-built pre-K touchpads to preschoolers via local partners (PHOTOS), including Rowan-Salisbury Schools (RSS) district and Partners In Learning. RSS is distributing the pre-K touchpads to 3-5 year olds across the county at:

  • Kindergarten registration events
  • Pre-K programs
  • School family events

ApSeed also continues to partner with community groups for distribution and for volunteer support. ApSeed and First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury NC (and its Race and Justice Ministry team) recently worked with Rise!Up Rowan to train volunteers (PHOTOS). They got a quick “how to” lesson on the ApSeed. Now they’re ready to answer any questions from families during upcoming distribution events.

Since 2016, ApSeed has distributed more than 8,000 pre-K educational touchpads to preschoolers in Rowan County where the nonprofit’s founder Greg Alcorn – who’s also CEO of Global Contact Services (GCS) – and his wife, Missie, call home.

ApSeed is able to give these touchpads – at no charge to families – thanks to private donors.

ApSeed serves preschoolers across the country and has recently added distribution partners in Ohio. While there, ApSeed founder Greg Alcorn was a guest on several podcasts based in Columbus. Learn more about this mighty nonprofit by listening to:

ApSeed is proud to serve preschoolers in my hometown and across the country, playing a role in supporting their lifelong educational success,” says ApSeed Founder Greg Alcorn. “We hope other funding partners will join us to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive.”
