“ApSeed is building powerful partnerships to scale our work,” says ApSeed founder Greg Alcorn. “Tami’s expertise in public policy, sustainability, and bipartisan collaboration will help us expand our reach and strengthen support so we can help even more children start kindergarten ready for success.”

Buckner’s expertise will advance ApSeed’s work to provide a proven pre-K learning tool and family support system that ensures children are prepared on day one of kindergarten.

“I’m honored to join ApSeed and help expand access to an extraordinary pre-K learning program that ensures children start school ready and quite literally changes the trajectory of their future,” says Buckner.

Buckner is a Partner and Chair of the Energy & Sustainability Practice at Michael Best Strategies and previously served as Head of the Federal Government Relations Practice in Washington, DC. Throughout her career, she has advised Fortune 500 companies in energy, agriculture, and food sectors, bridging corporate goals with federal policy and helping organizations deliver meaningful value to their communities. Her leadership experience also includes senior roles at Waste Management, Kraft Foods, Coca-Cola, and DuPont.

An active leader in business and higher education, Buckner serves on the Board of Trustees at Marymount University and previously served on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of Stillman College. She is also a member of the Economic Club of Washington, DC, and serves in advisory roles with Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy and the Congressional Management Foundation.

ApSeed partners with childcare providers, school districts, and local or state agencies, to distribute take-home educational touchpads to any preschool-aged child, but especially to those in federally-sponsored Pre-K, Title 1, and Head Start programs or who are served by the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program.

Since 2016, the organization has delivered more than 38,000 pre-K touchpads – at no cost to families – to children across the United States and even as far away as Zimbabwe and Liberia.
