It is an interactive touchpad that comes preloaded with 14 apps that teach skills to boost pre-K success.
What kind of apps are on the touchpad?   Â
There are fourteen apps with several games within each app. The games teach letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. Adults can observe and select apps for Pre-K success.
What does the touchpad teach?
Â
The touchpad helps prepare children for kindergarten readiness by teaching the 4 pillars of literacy.
Is the touchpad safe?
YES! A child ONLY has access to the preloaded pre-K specific games.
What are the risks to the child?
None that we know of. Besides learning vital Pre-K skills, the Touchpad builds positive behavior, teamwork, patience, and smooth transition to other activities.
What about screen time?
ApSeed follows the guidelines established by the Pediatrics Association of 1 hour a day for 3 and 4 year old children. Every family is provided with the following screentime guidelines.
What does ApSeed provide?
Every child will receive a touchpad, family guides that provide critical information about kindergarten readiness skills, and families will receive monthly text messages with hints and tips for working with their preschool child.
What is the cost of a touchpad?
Families pay nothing.
The cost to provide this program for families is $183.50 per child. This includes the touchpad, the carrying case, charger, headphones, family guides, and monthly text messages with monthly activity ideas. Funding supports comes from public and private sources. More than 87% on every dollar spent, goes directly towards the child.
Who does ApSeed serve?
We serve 3 and 4 year olds with a focus on providing equitable access for pre-k success. ApSeed works with various agencies to identify the children with greatest need for the program.
How does ApSeed measure success?Â
Short- and Long-term testing. Short term – Pre-K and Kindergarten assessments and long-term longitudinal studies
ApSeed collects pre-k assessment data from our partners to evaluate the overall success of the program. We also collect feedback from families, teachers, and agencies through surveys and focus groups.
On the average children show a 45% increase in kindergarten readiness skills after using the touchpad.
First and Second Grade students are performing 20% better than their peers who did not use the touchpad.
Why are the ApSeed results important?
Short- and Long-term cost savings and family independence from public assistance. Higher achieving Pre-K students need less remediation and become more self-reliant. Pulling up their own bootstraps!
